Hindu Celebration: Diwali
Hindu Celebration: Diwali
Diwali is the biggest Hindu celebration in the world. It is a five day celebration. The Diwali celebration starts on the 18 October and ends on the 22 October. It is a celebration of lights.
To celebrate Diwali, families give each other gifts, eat sweets and they also light firecrackers. They also make rangoli patterns near their front door to welcome guests into their homes. The Hindus believe that when they clean their house the gods come into their homes.
Today our class made Rangoli patterns with chalk. I worked with Siunipa. It was so much fun doing because it was our first time. Traditionally, rangoli patterns are made with coloured powder or coloured broken rice. Mr Ramkolowan made a rangoli pattern using broken rice.
Throughout the past few days, I have learned that Diwali is an important celebration. I have also learned that not just Hindus celebrate it, everyone across the country celebrates it too. Lastly, I learned that it can be celebrated in so many ways. I had so much fun learning about the Diwali Celebration.

Sports Camp: Girls Final- Volleyball
Sports Camp: Final- Volleyball
As our team walked onto the court, my heart was beating loudly. Minutes later, we started our game. The ball came flying my way and I hit the ball over the net. I looked at everyone’s face and their mouth was so long it touched their ears. Minutes later we lost the first set and everyone's face dropped.
As we were playing the second set my heart started beating loudly again but faster. I thought that we were going to lose but we
Won the round. My face flew up.
As we were playing the third set most of us were trying our hardest but we kept on hitting it out. The other team hit it out alot of times which gave us some points. It was so tough but we won.
As the ref called us to be the winner everyone ran up to us with joy and jumped on us. We did our cheer and everyone went around thanking them for the game. It was so much fun.
